Oktoberfest in Idaho
Idaho’s Oktoberfest scene is more active than most people expect from a Mountain West state of its size. Boise has developed a genuine festival culture around craft beer, and that translates into a solid Oktoberfest calendar every fall. Events exist across the state from the panhandle to the mountains.
Boise
Boise is where the action is. The city has several dedicated Oktoberfest productions that run over one or more weekends in September and October, plus seasonal events at local craft breweries. Boise’s downtown is compact and walkable, which helps when you are moving between venues. The city’s outdoor culture means events lean toward relaxed, festival-format gatherings rather than enclosed bar events.
Craft brewery Oktoberfest taps are widespread — most of the established Boise breweries release märzen or festbier seasonals and host release events with food and music. October in Boise is genuinely pleasant: temperatures in the 50s and 60s, low humidity, and clear skies make outdoor events comfortable.
McCall
McCall, a mountain resort town about 100 miles north of Boise on Payette Lake, has fall events that draw from both the local community and the Boise day-trip crowd. The mountain setting in October — peak fall foliage, cool air, smaller crowds than the summer season — makes McCall an appealing alternative to a city event.
Coeur d’Alene
In the Idaho panhandle, Coeur d’Alene has Oktoberfest events driven by its active tourism and resort economy. The lake town draws visitors from Spokane (just 30 miles west) as well as local residents, which gives events here a larger potential audience than the local population alone would suggest.
