Frankenmuth Oktoberfest runs September 17–20, 2026 at Heritage Park. Admission is $10 per day, with free entry for children under 15 and free admission all day Sunday. The event features traditional German bands, dancing, and food, along with the kind of beer selection you’d expect from a town that takes its Bavarian identity seriously year-round.
The Town Itself
Frankenmuth is worth a full day regardless of the festival calendar. The town is known for Zehnder’s and Bavarian Inn — two restaurant institutions that have been feeding visitors German-American food for generations. The architecture along Main Street maintains the Bavarian look, and the town’s shops and attractions are built around the heritage rather than tacked onto it. If you’re visiting for Oktoberfest, arrive a day early and walk the town.
Getting There
Frankenmuth is about 90 miles north of Detroit and 20 miles southeast of Flint via I-75 and M-83. It’s a straightforward drive from most of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula and reachable from Toledo and Cleveland for Ohio visitors willing to cross the state line.
